Former Barack Obama Press Secretary Hired by Chicago Cubs

Who says sports and politics don’t mix? These days, college and professional teams spend a lot of money and effort trying to manipulate their message and the media. So why not bring a former political operative in the front office?

And that’s what the Chicago Cubs did today- announcing the appointment of Julian Green to the newly-created position of vice president, communications and community affairs.

Green served as Illinois press secretary to then-United States Senator Barack Obama from 2005 to 2007 and as campaign press secretary from May to November 2004. So yes, Green is connected to the President of the United States of America.

Cubs Add New Positions to Front Office

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today announced two front office hires for newly-created positions within the organization.  Jahaan Blake has been hired as the club’s Director of Fan Experiences and Kevin Saghy has been named the club’s Public Relations and Marketing Specialist.
