Purdue Boilermakers: a look ahead to 2012-13

As the focus in college basketball is quickly moving from the National Championship to the off-season, even more emphasis will be put on examining the incoming recruiting classes who will soon be moving into workouts with their respective colleges.

In the state of Indiana, the Hoosiers look to be on their way back. Grabbing all of the headlines with their top ten recruiting class and their surge back from prominence last season, this looks to be a team that will be poised for national attention again next season.

If there were any fears that Michigan–after being dominated at home by Purdue on Saturday–had witnessed the end of its three-week long hot streak, you can put those to rest now. You know something is beyond terrible when it has lots of cheerleaders in it, yet I have no interest in seeing it again.

This year, and probably next, are proverbial rebuilding seasons in West Lafayette, Ind. After that, Matt Painter and the Purdue Boilermakers are ready to reload. And they’ll do so with one of the nation’s top recruiting classes, as a highly-praised quartet signed National Letters of Intent for the 2012-13 season.

This group should help the Boilermakers stay nationally relevant in college basketball.

Rapheal Davis, A.J. Hammons, Ronnie Johnson and Jay Simpson comprise a class that is regarded as the 13th-best in the nation by ESPN and 16th by Scout.com.
