Time to spin this NFL coaching carousel again, and this time it lands of the San Francisco 49ers. Khaki sales are reportedly up 400% now in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Let’s see if the next Niners Coach can inject more life into the clothing segment of the American economy.
(Update Fangio emerges as front-runner)
CBS’ talking heads debated the landing spot of Mike Shanahan.
London Fletcher: “I like him going to Chicago. He has a history with Jay Cutler. He drafted him when he was in Denver… He is going to be a great head coach again.”
Chris Simms: “It makes a lot of sense for Mike Shanahan to go to the San Francisco 49ers. They’re looking for an offensive guy there to restart Colin Kaepernick, get that passing offense together. What a (great) candidate in Mike Shanahan. You look at what he has done in his career with unproven quarterbacks… (The San Francisco 49ers have a) struggling Colin Kaepernick and you still want to stay at that elite level like San Francisco does, and can if they get a top notch coach in there? Mike Shanahan would be my hire all the way.”
At this point, neither one is right, and neither on is right. However, I’m siding with Fletcher on this one. We outlined the reason and logic behind Mike Shanahan becoming the next Bears Coach back in week 17.
And yes, we chronicled, the ties that bind in that scenario do revolve Jay Cutler, the “don’t care bear.”

Former Oakland Raiders front office woman Amy Trask mentioned an under-the-radar coaching prospect who’s becoming this season’s sleeper candidate, possibly with the San Francisco 49ers:
Trask: “Hue Jackson is one of the most brilliant offensive minds I have ever had the privilege and pleasure of working with. He does what you hope a coach will do, which is put his players in the best position to win. (In 2011, when Jackson was Oakland Raiders head coach) we lost our starting quarterback. When Jason Campbell went down, we were performing at a very, very high level. (We) lost a number of other key position players, (including) running backs and receivers. And yet we were one game from the playoffs. There is a misconception out in the world that Hue is difficult to work with. Let me tell you something, ‘easy…’ He is delightful.”
Would he fit in with the San Francisco 49ers?
