Chicago Bears Coach Marc Trestman is done for; and GM Phil Emery is on the rocks. According to the NFL Network, the coaching believes they will all be canned, and Emery could go either way. There will be either a staff meeting tonight, or tomorrow morning, and Trestman is to become a casualty.
We’ve all known this here in Chicago since December 16th (WSCR 670 The Score had it first. One of the midday co-hosts for the CBS Chicago radio station, Dan Bernstein had sources claiming Trestman was finished in Chicago the day after the Saints disaster on Monday Night Football), but tomorrow is the day that it will actually finally happen.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Marc Trestman and his staff:
“There is expected to be meetings tonight and early tomorrow to decide the fate of this Bears’ coaching staff.
“But they all think that they are getting fired after tonight’s game and that also could include not just head coach Marc Trestman who has presided over the Bears in a disappointing two-year stint that has included horrific play from quarterback Jay Cutler, but it also could include general manager Phil Emery.
“A full housecleaning could be coming to the Chicago Bears.”
There are numerous who claims Trestman will be gone by tomorrow and that Emery’s job security is in doubt as well. This (getting rid of a head coach after just two years) would not be unprecedented for the Bears organization, as it’s happened once before.
It’s a no-brainer decision though. It’s been painfully obvious the last couple of weeks that Trestman has totally lost control of his team. There is no leadership on his part; at all. The Bears lack of effort this past month conveys every indication that this team has completely quit on Trestman. Time to eat the last two years of his contract and move on.
Marc Trestman is just a really nice guy who was in way over his head.
Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer on potential sweeping changes in the Chicago Bears organization: “For the Chicago Bears, what we don’t know is how many changes there will be from top to bottom. But we do know there will be changes and in fact, the coaches there believe that they will all be out of Chicago.”
So next we move on to what to do about Jay Cutler, and his enormous contract? We explore that scenario at this link.
