What is Chicago Bulls three Luol Deng worth on the NBA open market? Is he worth a 3 exactly? The Washington Wizards are reportedly interested in dealing the third overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft to the Bulls for Luol Deng.
This is an extremely weak NBA Draft class. The talent level of prospects is quite thin. However, that doesn’t mean the NBA Draft will automatically be boring; like the NFL Draft was a couple months ago.
The NFL Draft had too much fatness up right at the top. Too many fat guys going early. This NBA class obviously doesn’t have that problem, but it does lack star power. Luol Deng is an All-Star, is this the right time to deal him? In this class? Then again a #3 overall is a nice prize. In any class, even this one. Because Deng’s contract is a bit albatrosslike. It’s not the massive albatross you get in the Carlos Boozer deal, but if the Bulls can get some salary cap relief in the form of jettisoning the Luol Deng deal, I can understand that.
With this core, they’re likely not getting past the Miami Heat this year. They may have issues getting past the Indiana Pacers too.
