Following the Chicago Cubs 2-0 win over the San Francisco Giants today Wrigley Field was evacuated due to a bomb threat; yes a BOMB THREAT. Most press releases use the ALL CAPS font, and they’re very wrong in doing so. Most press releases are now newsworthy, but it goes without saying that this press release is very news worthy and is very worthy of an ALL CAPS font. The club evacuated Wrigley Field tonight.

The Cubs sent out the following statement at 7:36 local time, following a threat received at Wrigley Field Sunday, August 9th.

Chicago Cubs Statement on Bomb Threat at Wrigley Field:

“Following our game this afternoon, we received a bomb threat and took swift action to clear the few remaining fans, players, staff and media from the ballpark. After a thorough search by law enforcement, no evidence was found to suggest this threat was credible. We take safety at Wrigley Field seriously and are working with law enforcement authorities to pursue the person who initiated this threat.”

In a quasi-related story, a goat’s head was delivered to Chairman Tom Ricketts in April of 2013.
