Chris Smalling Glad Man United Plays Again Right Away

On Sunday, Sep. 18th. Manchester United will kick off at Watford and you can bet that Jose Mourinho’s side will be looking to get their momentum turned around. United will look to get back to their winning ways in the Premier League and recover from their disappointing loss at home against Manchester City.

The Red Devils fell to their cross-town rivals in what was one of the most hyped up editions of the Manchester Derby that we’ve ever seen.

Then last night saw United fall to Dutch minnows Feyenoord Rotterdam in a Europa League tie. Following the lead of their manager, who expressed a lack of enthusiasm for this match, the team itself appeared very disinterested.

According to central defender Chris Smalling, they’re fired up to take on the Hornets this Sunday.

Smalling said that a third consecutive loss is “unacceptable,” and he admitted “we didn’t play up to our standards” last evening. The center back sees the disappointing result in the Netherlands as chance to refocus the team.

“I think if anything, that’s a good thing,” the centre-back told MUTV. “We don’t have time to dwell and we have a few days to recover. We make sure that we stand up and be counted on Sunday because we’ve got a big result to get.”

“I think [the confidence] does take a little knock, but I think we can’t forget some of the chances we created. I think on Sunday character … needs to shine through because it’s unacceptable to lose three games in a row.”
