Morgan Schneiderlin signed a four-year deal (£24 million fee, with a possibility of add-ons totaling £27 million) with a fifth year option with Manchester United on July 13th. He was there for the Red Devils taking after Arsenal pulled out of the race for the former Southampton midfielder.

The Schneiderlin investment began paying dividends just five minutes into his United career. Sure, it’s just preseason, and the games don’t count, but everybody was extremely excited to see Schneiderlin’s debut.

He announced his arrival with authority- scoring on this beautiful header in the 5′ that ricocheted off the post and in.

The team sheet listed Schneiderlin as #27. It was the only scoring strike of the first half for either club. When the new star midfielder was introduced to the club a couple days ago, he had this to say about his ambitions with the new club:

“It’s a must for the club to be in the top four and winning the title is very important.”

“With the players we have in the team you see there is a lot of quality. We are ready to do our best and then mix it with the Champions League.”

“These are the two main targets for the club – but we want to win everything, it’s as simple as that.”

With his new club Schneiderlin will have a chance to reach new heights that he would have never approached with his old club.
