Guus Hiddink Blatantly Calls Out Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea caretaker Manager Guus Hiddink, set to be replaced by Antonio Conte in the summer, is having a lot of fun during his final days as boss.  Ahead of his side’s London derby clash against Tottenham Hotspur, Hiddink has thrown some shade at White Hart Lane.

Guus Hiddink has questioned whether Tottenham will have the bottle to stay in the title race at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

Now this is what you say when you have a real rivalry.

Guus Hiddink said regarding Tottenham’s mettle and poise in big games: “In some players it might cause nerves. They might under-perform a bit. Leicester are fearless but some Spurs players might be affected by being on top and think ‘what now?’.

“We shouldn’t over-evaluate it in the sense it’s just Tottenham. We desperately like to win, then the next game.”

Harsh! That’s a press conferencespeak for “they’re going to choke simply because they’re Tottenham” with an ultra-condescending “they’re just Spurs so who really cares” thrown in for good measure.”
This is Jose Mourinho level stuff right here. Like when the Special One said this about Spurs, a short before Stamford Bridge sacked him. Hiddink did also recently say that he would like to prevent Tottenham from winning the title, as did Chelsea star Eden Hazard.
Unless Spurs win tonight, they are officially eliminated from the Premier League title race. Pochettino is talking big ahead of this clash too; he said that he will lead Spurs into their new stadium as league champions.

The Argentine, now extended until 2021, also said that he hopes to build an Alex Ferguson like dynasty in North London.
