Mauricio Pochettino Hints at Leaving if Tottenham Hotspur Win Champions League

It remains to be seen just how serious Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino was with these specific comments that he made today at his prematch press conference ahead of the away leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinal tie with Ajax.

Only Pochettino, who stands a good chance of guiding Spurs to their fourth consecutive top three Premier League finishes, really knows for sure how much he actually means what he said here. Poch indicated that he could potentially be okay with walking away on top, shout he lead the north London side to a European title.

“Winning the Champions League? It would be fantastic, no? Close the five-year chapter and go home,” he said at a news conference today.

“To win the Champions League with Tottenham, in this circumstance, in this season, maybe I need to think a little bit to do something different in the future, for sure. Because to repeat this miracle, you know.”

Spurs have never won the Champions League in their entire history, but they did claim the Winner’s Cup in 1963 and the Europa League in 1972 and 1984. Tottenham is still looking to win the first trophy of the Pochettino era.
