It’s been awhile since we’ve heard much about the White Hart Lane redevelopment plan at Tottenham Hotspur football club. For the most part, they have not been shy about sharing artist renderings and animations of the scheme in place. White Hart Lane has also been good at promoting photos of the construction project as it develops.
What they unveiled today is really a very special feature in the proverbial “bells and whistles” category. They are claiming to one day boast of the world’s first retractable pitch.
Have a look at this eye-catching and informative video below:

SCX was chosen to design, engineer, build and install the pitch, a project which is slated to begin next month and take 12 weeks to reach completion. They are the same firm who built the retractable roof on Centre Court at Wimbledon
Managing director Simon Eastwood said: “We are so very proud to deliver this engineering world first.”
Tottenham Hotspur Chairman Daniel Levy has been very straight-forward about his ambitions to make this venue the new home of NFL across the pond. They have an agreement in place to host at least two NFL games per season in the new 61,000 seat stadium, which will include a synthetic field underneath the main pitch for NFL matches and other events.
They are even planning to host NFL and Premier League on the same day!
Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to have a NFL franchise permanently calling the new stadium home one day.
