Tottenham Add Fernando Llorente, Beat Chelsea to Swans Striker

Chelsea Football Club’s up and down summer transfer window seems to be barreling towards a disastrous finish. This week saw a bunch of bad news for the Blues, as Tottenham Hotspur beat Chelsea to Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente. Just yesterday, Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte believed that he was about to reunite with his former player at Juventus.

It’s another disappointment, in a week which has seen many. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain went back on his agreement to join Chelsea, and opted to move to Liverpool instead. Everton defender Ross Barkley changed his mind at the last minute, during his testing at Chelsea, opting to stay put it in Merseyside instead.

While Chelsea has seen their transfer window deteriorate, Tottenham have redefined the term “late bloomer” in this window; getting it done in the 11th hour.

We have confirmation now that the Spurs have added Llorente, via the BBC: “Tottenham have completed the signing of Swansea striker Fernando Llorente on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.” Llorente becomes White Hart Lane’s fifth player added this window, with PSG defender Serge Aurier also coming over on deadline day.

However, it wasn’t all bad news for Chelsea on Thursday, as they did bring on Torino defender Davide Zappacosta with reports that Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater is on his way.
