Sergej Milinkovic-Savic Comments on United, Juventus Transfer Rumors

Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been linked with Manchester United quite a bit this summer, but their pursuit suffered a bit of a blow (probably), as the midfielder maintains he’s happy where he is for the time being.

Just a couple weeks ago, we saw reports claiming SMS had agreed upon a move to Juventus, but that has obviously proven to be “fake news.” Milinkovic-Savic has also been linked with a move to both of the La Liga super-powers, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Sergej says he’s content to stay put right now however.

Via TV Mediaset:

“I need a little bit of rest now,” he said. “I’ll return to Rome and I would be happy if I stay at Lazio, as I’m content there and I have a contract.

“I read something different in the papers every day, but I haven’t thought about it yet. First I’ll rest for a bit, then we’ll see.”

United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on Milinkovic-Savic, but the price tag Lazio has slapped on him, nearly €100 million, stands in the way of a deal potentially getting done.

His father would like to see him join up at Juve though, as he told Tuttosport in the middle of last month:

“I told Sergej many times, the Bianconeri would be the ideal club for him. In Turin, he can become a complete player and win it all, including the Ballon d’Or. Real? Madrid can wait.”

Milinkovic-Savic was probably the best player for Serbia this World Cup, and if he did make the move to United, imagine how he would fit in the middle of the park at United.

Add him to Paul Pogba and Fred in a midfield three, with Nemanja Matic and Marouane Fellaini on the bench, and that is an impressive level of depth right there.
