Wayne Rooney opened the scoring against Bayer Leverkusen at Old Trafford today with his 199th career goal. He put United up 1-0 in the 22nd minute. Later, in the 71st minute, he would hit the 200 milestone.

The star striker’s 200th helped Manchester United defeat Bayer Leverkusen 4-2.

Simon Rolfes equalized against the run of play for Leverkusen in the 54th but Robin van Persie quickly regained the lead for United, before his strike partner finished the German visitors off. David Moyes got a big win in his Champions League opener.

And for the 27-year-old Wayne Rooney, a performance worthy of “Man of the Match” designation.
