Man United Team News at Brentford: Sancho, Greenwood, Rangnick

Heading into the Monday night football clash at Brentford FC, there are a ton of Manchester United news items, both on and off-the-pitch, to cover. So let’s dive right in, starting with a legal update on indefinitely suspended forward Mason Greenwood.

Greater Manchester Police released a statement today, announcing that they made an application to extend his bail, which was set to expire April 30. Greenwood remains suspended by the club, following his arrest in January on suspicion of rape, assault and threats to kill.

Here’s more on the GMP statement, and the latest legal proceedings surrounding Greenwood.

Elsewhere, it appears that Jadon Sancho, who missed the score draw with Chelsea on Wednesday due to tonsillitis, is apparently done for the season.

“As it seems, Jadon might be out for the rest of the season with his tonsillitis so he will most likely be not available against Brentford,” Interim Manager Ralf Rangnick said.

“Since the last game is another three weeks to go against Crystal Palace, but for the next two games I think it is unlikely.

“He definitely has an inflammation on his tonsils and has also had some high temperatures, that’s why he was not available for Chelsea and he almost certainly won’t be available for the next couple of games.

So, hopefully, they can get hold of that inflammation and if the tonsils have to be taken out and removed, this can happen at the end of the season.”

That’s a shame, as Sancho has been one of the few bright spots this season, and observing his growth and development was one of the few reasons to keep watching for the rest of the run in.

As for Rangnick himself, he’s confirmed that he’ll be the next manager of the Austria national team. But he’ll still stay on as a consultant at MUFC.

“I will take over as national team manager of Austria at the end of the season but will continue my consultancy with Manchester United,” Rangnick said.

“I’m really looking forward to playing my part in helping United become a real force again.”

Moving on, Harry Maguire, Paul Pogba (although his “injured” status still seems less than convincing to many) and Luke Shaw remain out, while Edinson Cavani (it would be nice to see him in a red shirt one last time) and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are doubts.

There is good news though, in that midfielder Fred (one of the few players who improved this season) is expected to be fully match fit.

  2. Kwame Kwarteng says

At the end of the season, Ralf’s time with Manchester United comes to an end. I understand he will remain as a consultant.
I’m just asking, what consultancy services do the club from him again. Since Ralf’s arrival the team has performed poorly, player confidence is at all time low. Just let him go. No consultancy.

  4. We are man utd

  5. But people , even if jobs are easy like this( RR consultancy role) at united! What exactly is consultancy all about if the consultant to be can not deliver any single convincing result at man u? Am sick and tired of all this mess. Even OGS was a better bargain. RR just leave man u. U have made everything on the pitch worse than you found it. I don see any expertise u are going to help Ten Haag with.

  6. Shem Malmas says

Kindly you had a chance to prove what you’re capable of, since you have failed in every aspect we expect no miracle on your consultants kindly go manage the national term and we wish yu the best.

  8. Doctor Philani says

People don’t see that our players are the problem. It’s not the coach. Remember then RR when he came he wanted to change and take Man Utd to greater heights but the players didn’t want that then he went back to Ole’s 4-3-2-1which wasn’t yielding any results and recently he tried a 4-3-3 players didn’t perform for him either so ….as long as the team is run like it is ….no coach will succeed. Let RR do the consultancy and players be under a manager unlike now….when they’ll have you sacked as a coach while they enjoy their hefty salaries for nothing!

  9. All un yielding players should leave man u now like jones
