Manchester United strike Javier Chicharito Hernandez recently gave a very emotional, and very informational interview to Telemundo, an NBC property. In it, Chicharito said he thought about not playing football ever again. Chicharito was quite close to quitting. (more on that here)
It was a chance for Chicharito to get the publicity he deserves.
And now tomorrow on FOX Soccer Daily, analyst Francisco Rivera sits down with new head coach of the Mexican national team, Miguel Herrera, for his first significant U.S. interview. He discusses why he took the controversial position, I guess he’s a guy who doesn’t shy away from controversy. His thoughts on striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, and whether or not he’ll remain the manager for next summer’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Rivera asks Herrera on the opportunity to coach Mexico:
“I’ve always wanted this opportunity since Ricardo Pelaez presented it to me 2 years ago. I thought the only way I would leave America was if I had a chance with the national team. And while people say this is not the right time, I feel indeed is the right time to support the national team and country.”
