Was the unexpected and eye-popping 4-0 scoreline we saw on opening weekend an indication that Manchester United are much better than most people seem to think they are? Or was it indicative of Chelsea being much worse than many thought?
It might be a combination of both, plus Blues boss Frank Lampard not starting the game with a few of his more experienced and highly regarded players. United can definitely show they’re for real in week two though by getting a result at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolves are a tough out for anyone and side that the Red Devils struggled mightily against last season.
United at Wolverhampton Team News
Wolves enter this match at full fitness, a state of being that they were very fortunate to possess for most of last season. United head to the Molineux doing very well on the fitness front too. Their only absences are defenders Eric Bailly (knee, approximately 4-6 months), Timothy Fosu-Mensah (knee, return date unknown) and forward Alexis Sanchez (match fitness).
Sanchez suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty with Chile this summer, and thus isn’t fully acclimated and up to speed with the result of the club.
This situation has inspired a lot of transfer talk, but Solskjaer disputes the idea of the former Arsenal man leaving before the transfer deadline closes in other countries. The Norwegian doesn’t just expect him Sanchez to stay, the manager believes that the player will be a big contributor this season.
Maybe that will happen, it’s a long shot if ever does, but we do know that he won’t be involved this week.
