After a very thorough thrashing at the hands of FC Barcelona in midweek Champions League play, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lamented just how far his club has to go in order to rejoin Europe’s elite.

The Norwegian knows it will take a long time to get there too. Thus, a major overhaul will be in the works this summer. “We have said all along that this isn’t going to change tonight. The next few years will be massive for us to get to the level of Barcelona,” said Solskjaer.

“We have got good players and, at the moment, we really have done well to get to the quarters and to get in the challenge for the top four.”

Up next is a quest for three points at Everton, a side how currently sit in mid-table. Let’s take a look at who Solskjaer may select for his first team.

  4. Excellent Larry A says

Well, they should try and win this one, otherwise they will lose top four.
They really disappointed against Barca in the champions league 1/4 final.
They should rediscover the form they were when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as a caretaker.
Again, we need to overhaul the team in order to get prepared for next season to enable us be among the best three teams in the World.
Look at the way Real Madrid are going about their transfer, why wouldn’t they perform with the caliber of players they’re looking for?
I heard they’re budgeting between £500m and £450m for next season. With this, they can afford any player they want.
Man U are talking about £200m to £200m. If I may ask, how many good players would this buy?
If we go by that, we will still be playing like School children. I believe Man U is among the three richest teams in the World, so, why can’t we spend like other big teams or do we enjoy mediocre performance year in year out?
