Manchester United News: Alexis Sanchez, Victor Lindelof, Bruno Fernandes

ALEXIS sanchez

Manchester United got the 2019-20 season off to a rip roaring start, thrashing their rivals Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford. Up next is a visit to the Molineux, where they will take on a Wolverhampton Wanderers side that really gave them hell last season.

It’ll be a few days until the Wolves clash, so let’s take a look at some of the news and notes items currently making the rounds in the MUFC web community, starting with a potential solution to the Alexis Sanchez situation.

The Chilean, arguably the worst signing in the club’s modern history, is reportedly desperate for a way out of Old Trafford and that could come via Serie A.

The Daily Mail reports that the forward is drawing interest from AC Milan, Napoli and Juventus. The former Arsenal and Barcelona man has also been linked this week to AS Roma. Obviously he’s hoping to find regular first-team football again, but his colossal salary will make his transfer a tricky deal to sort out.

Shifting gears, to a transfer buy in recent years that had the polar opposite result, Victor Lindelof is reportedly in line for a massive new contract extension.

According to the Mirror, the Swedish international could receive a three-year extension to his current deal, with a salary of £150,000-a-week.

That’s a double your money kind of deal, and the business strategy is here is two-fold. First, United are trying to ward off interest from Barcelona. Secondly, United are hoping Lindelof will form a long-term partnership with the newly acquired, record breaking Harry Maguire.

With that in mind, we won’t see any more Chris Smalling-Phil Jones pairings in central defense for matches of consequence, and that is something which is definitely worth the big bucks.

Finally, many who gave negative marks when assessing United’s summer transfer window did so because they didn’t buy a midfielder.

The main target in this position group was Sporting CP’s Bruno Fernandes, but the club was turned off from making an offer due to concerns raised by their scouts.

They warned manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about the questions they had in regards to adaptability.
