Manchester United have agreed to loan out Anderson to Serie A side Fiorentina with the option to buy for €6.5 million, according to the Manchester Evening News. The news has also been confirmed by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano. The release fee has also been negotiated and Anderson will undergo a medical this week in Italy. So this begins the Manchester United transactions in the January transfer window. Hopefully, anyway. This move could be the beginning of a series of departures.
Does this mean it’s a start of opening things up in order to make room for new additions to Old Trafford? We shall see. Anderson spent six years with Manchester United in which he failed to live up to the lofty expectations heaped upon him. He never performed at a level commensurate with the hype. Maybe he can play his natural position as an attacking midfielder as he restarts his football career in Italy. And maybe his jettison is the first step in a revamping of the Manchester United midfield. Obviously, it’s the position that needs the most work.
