You’ve heard of a “slow news day,” right? Well, this is, from a Manchester United standpoint, a fast news day; lightning fast. Within a 24 hour span we’ve seen, heard and learned: United’s UEFA Champions League pot, their UCL Draw, the re-signing of striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba make a passionate public stance against racism.
On top of all that, you have a home game in a matter of hours now, against the 2015-16 league champions Leicester City.
Without further ado, here is The Sports Bank’s Man United starting XI prediction (4-2-3-1)
Romelu Lukaku
Anthony Martial Paul Pogba Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Ander Herrera Nemanja Matic
Matteo Darmian Victor Lindelof Eric Bailly Antonio Valencia
David de Gea
Club legend Gary Neville, now a pundit, said it would be unfair for manager Jose Mourinho to drop Marcus Rashford, in favor of Anthony Martial. You can read more about that at this link. For the purposes of this starting lineup prediction, we did so, but we’re still on the fence when it comes to that idea. We can certainly see where Neville is coming from in that argument.
