Man United Make Alexis Sanchez Offer, Look to Hijack Man City Deal

Multiple reports indicated that Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City was a deal on the verge of being closed.

However, Thursday brought a new wrinkle in the transfer saga surrounding the Arsenal forward. Manchester United are now supposedly in the running. The Guardian reports that United offered The Emirates £25 million, which would be five mil more than City’s bid. The Daily Mail claims that Old Trafford has put an offer on the table for £35 million.

The Mail adds that United are “also prepared to better City’s personal terms of £250,000 a week.”

The Guardian claims that Alexis Sanchez has already agreed to personal terms at City, adding that United have offered the Gunners the chance “to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan, although a stumbling block to that deal could be the Armenian international’s wages, which are believed to be around £200,000 a week.”

City had a summer transfer window deal for Alexis Sanchez lined up, but it fell apart on deadline day as Arsenal made a horrible fumble in their approach for Thomas Lemar, who was to be their Alexis replacement. Now it appears that Bordeaux youngster Malcolm could be the potential Sanchez replacement this time around.

With more teams involved, and more transfer dominoes that could fall based on just what happens with Alexis Sanchez, it will be interesting to see if this can all get over the line before the window closes. If United sign Sanchez, it would cause a frenzy. Club legend Phil Neville compared the potential addition to when United signed Eric Cantona.
