It’s certainly no secret that left back Luke Shaw had endured an injury plagued, controversy riddled existence at Manchester United. Shaw’s attitude, tactical ability and dedication have all been questioned during his time at Old Trafford, and Manager Jose Mourinho has proverbially thrown him under the bus a couple times during media opportunities.
However, today is different in that now it appears a point of no return may have been reached.
Via NBC Sports: “Multiple reports claim that Luke Shaw believes his Manchester United career is “effectively over” following a falling out with Jose Mourinho.”
Shaw broke the British transfer fee record for a teenager when he came up from Southampton in the summer 2014. He had started to settle in at the left back position for a time, until suffering a very gruesome leg injury versus PSV Eindhoven in September of 2015.
The 22-year-old suffered a foot injury at the end of last season, which slowed him from getting involved this year. He’s yet to feature in Premier League play, and has only seen the pitch twice, in League Cup action. Overall, he’s made just 49 appearances in four years, and his United career would be characterized as a bust by most people who would care to assess it.
He has been substantially linked with a move away from Old Trafford the past couple transfer windows, and it’s highly expected now that he’ll be loaned out somewhere come January.
