Jose Mourinho said in his weekly news conference on Friday that he wasn’t going to get all swept up in emotion when Manchester United visited Chelsea on Saturday in what is the weekend’s Premier League headliner fixture. Mourinho claimed, although none of us believed him at the time that today’s fixture was just another game, not a circle the date on the calendar kind of affair.
Well, emotions ran very high on both sides in this 2-2 draw, so what Mourinho said in his prematch press conference proved to ultimately be the opposite. Then again, Mourinho probably wasn’t thinking that he’d get wound up like this when he made those comments yesterday.
Wait for it. Jose Mourinho holding up three fingers (to signify 3 titles at #CFC) to the Chelsea fans after the game, moments after a huge melee and Manchester United let in a 95th minute equalizer.

When Chelsea equalized in the 96′, the number two assistant under Maurizio Sarri, Marco Ianni, ran down the touchline and celebrated with a fist bump directly in front on Jose Mourinho. A melee erupted as the United manager became so incensed that he then had to be restrained.
A classless move by Ianni sure, but Mourinho didn’t exactly have the best reaction himself. What Mourinho did after the match was in poor sportsmanship as well. He held up three fingers to the Stamford Bridge crowd, an allusion to the three Premier League titles he won at Chelsea.

Then again Jose Mourinho is the most successful manager in club history, so I guess he has earned the right to react to being taunted in any manner that he sees fit.
