The case for Manchester United to sack Manager Louis van Gaal grows stronger by the week. Another loss/drab result today leaves them reeling, and United supporters clamoring for someone new. Jose Mourinho would be welcomed by many, but not all in the United community.

Mourinho would not reportedly be embraced by everyone on the United board either.

Pep Guardiola is regarded to be the home run hire, and there have been reports that Pep’s peeps met with United representation in Paris. Old Trafford denied that this meeting ever occurred.

Getting back to Mourinho, sources told ESPN FC that The Special One wrote a six page letter to the club highlighting all the reasons he should be the next man in charge. According to the Bristol based news outlet:

“Conscious of opposition to his appointment among some of the Old Trafford hierarchy, Mourinho has written a six-page letter explaining how much he desires the job and would be willing to conform to club principles, as well as offering a detailed plan for the team, sources say.”

In response to this report, Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, released a statement Saturday night denying Mourinho had written a letter.

“It doesn’t cross anyone’s mind that a manager such [as] Jose Mourinho is writing letters to clubs, asking for a job. It’s ridiculous and absolutely nonsense,” the statement read.

Yesterday, Van Gaal again dismissed reports claiming that he will leave Old Trafford at the end of the season, even going as far as to say he does not have to answer to the media. Here’s a link to the full quote.

In a related story, here is a link to a collection of some of the more entertaining digs at Van Gaal today on Twitter.
