This streak is amazing when you think about it- Jose Mourinho has never won a league away game against Newcastle United.
On Sunday, it looks very likely that this run will come to an end at St. James Park, as United will be heavily favored as they take on the toons. Let’s take a look at who’s injured, who’s fit and who’s a doubt for the weekend Premier League fixture. We begin with forward Marcus Rashford- according to multiple reports earlier in the week, he faces a race to be fully fit in time for this one, as he’s battling a minor muscle injury.
United Defender Eric Bailly remains out as he continues recovering from ankle surgery. Likewise for striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is still working on recovering from knee issues that arose in relation to the ACL damage he suffered last year. Mourinho has previously his hopes that both Bailly and Ibrahimovic could be in action by the end of February.
Marouane Fellaini is likely out until the end of March, as he continues recovering from his knee operation. Captain Michael Carrick might see his first Premier League action of the season in this one.
It’s been a very emotional week for Manchester United, with the 60th anniversary of the Munich air disaster on Tuesday, and the moving commemoration that accompanied it at Old Trafford. The memorial service was not without controversy, as both Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba found themselves in hot water over behavior that was initially misconstrued.
At first glance, it would have seen that their behavior was inappropriate, but upon further examination, they were both in the right.
