Football Association Claims Jose Mourinho “Endangered People”

At best you can call this melodramatic exaggeration by the Football Association. At worst, it’s downright trolling by the FA. Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has had a very rough season when it comes to his behavior eliciting disciplinary measures from the Football Association.

We’re not even at Christmas and Mourinho has been hit with a one-match touchline ban twice, and been fined by the FA on two occasions, once for £16,000 and again for £50,000. Today, a Football Association statement was released, explaining their rationale behind the punitive measures that they took regarding Mourinho’s kicking a water bottle.

The statement is more than a bit ridiculous and thus it’s now circulating in the Twitterverse, blogosphere, cyberspace and media world. Jose Mourinho was sent to the Old Trafford stands on November 27th, during his side’s 1-1 draw with West Ham. the FA described the incident thusly:

“The commission makes no comment as to what actually motivated Mr Mourinho to kick the bottle in the way that he did.”

“the fact remains that he aggressively kicked the bottle in a manner that could have endangered people around him regardless of the motivation to do so.”

It’s just a water bottle! How much damage can something as banal as that really do? But wait, there’s more the findings conclude that Mourinho

“aggressively kicked a water bottle … so recklessly and with little consideration of the consequences.”

It’s not all bad though, the Football Association have the Portugese credit for this:

“Mr. Mourinho ought to be credited for his admission to the charge, his non-confrontational actions when engaging with the officials subsequent to him kicking the bottle and his apology, which the commission accepted as being sincere,” the commission added.”
