It appears that the future of Alexis Sanchez will certainly be decided in the coming days.

It might even be settled in the coming hours. The Chilean did not travel with Arsenal to the team’s 2-1 loss at Bournemouth today, and heading into this match, manager Arsene Wenger admitted that his star forward won’t return to the club after this season.

For Sanchez, he may have dodged a bullet today, as Arsenal were truly an international punchline on social media for much of Sunday.

Sanchez has been linked with a transfer to both Manchester clubs, with United currently being touted as the favorite to acquire his services. Some reports even claim that an agreement with Old Trafford is close to being agreed upon. That narrative seems a bit jumping the gun right now, but when asked whether news was imminent, Wenger told Sky Sports that a resolution is soon coming.

“Yes, [but] don’t read too much into it because I don’t know what way it’ll go,” Wenger said.

“You want to focus on the players who are on the pitch and can do well for the club. He’s being vague at the moment, the situation is not completely decided one way or the other. I left him at home.”

For Alexis, the question seems to be should he

a.) reunite with Pep Guardiola, with whom he had a fantastic relationship at Barcelona and likely win a league title this season?

or b.) take the money, and go to a place where he might also potentially reunite with Mesut Ozil in the summer?

I guess we’ll all just have to “watch this space” over the next couple of days to see which road Sanchez takes.
