Alexis Sanchez is regarded by many to be the worst signing in Manchester United history. Not only has his Old Trafford career been injury riddled, he’s been very unproductive and displayed extremely poor form when healthy.
The bigger issue is probably his salary, which is reported to be £500,000 a week, and throws off the wage scale for the entire player roster. It also makes him near impossible to move this summer transfer window, although reports in Italy are suggesting that could happen.
The Guardian cites those Italian reports, writing that Juventus’ Sporting Director is open to the possibility.
The outlet also adds that his “agent is doing his bit to get the ball rolling, touting his client around assorted Italian clubs also rumored to include Inter, Roma and Milan.”
Still seems like a massive stretch, but I guess we’ll just have to see. Elsewhere in the world of Alexis Sanchez, he took to his Instagram today to post an apology to the club’s fans. 2018-19 was a massive disappointment for him, both on the individual and the team level. The club finished sixth in the table, out of the UCL, despite their massive payroll.
As for Sanchez himself, he only made 20 Premier League appearances this season, and scored just one goal.
”It was a very tough season…the fans are the ones who deserve an apology as they always support you no matter what happens,” he wrote on the social media platform.
“Personally, I didn’t perform as much as I was expecting because of unpredictable injuries. Press and people were speculating of things that were not even true. I was always a professional in all aspects.”
“I apologize to the fans for not be able to achieve our goals. Nevertheless we are Manchester United! Players and Staff are questioning if we were doing the right thing and if we were giving our best for this football shirt.
“I’m certain that Manchester United one day will return to be the club, as it was in the old days with Mr. Alex Ferguson.”
