Sunday may have brought an end to the Harry Maguire transfer saga. Any chances Manchester United may have had of signing the Leicester City defender were essentially dashed as the club announced a five year extension on his current contract.
The deal, reportedly worth £80,000-a-week, essentially wards United off from making another move for him in January. A little over two weeks ago, the England World Cup hero did speak out publicly about United’s pursuit of him.
He reaffirmed the public stance of the club- that he’s not for sale at any price. Today’s announcement certainly validates that idea.

“Ever since I came to this Club, I’ve always reiterated how good they’ve been to me,” Maguire said in an interview with the club’s web channel. “They gave me an opportunity to play in the Premier League and built a great platform for me to go and perform at the World Cup, so I thank them a lot. I owe them a lot and I’m looking forward to the future.”
Leicester defender Ben Chilwell said about a month ago that Maguire would not be joining United in January, so he was essentially proven right today.
