It continues to be a very exciting summer at Manchester United, with plenty of topics to discuss. What offseason, right? So let’s take a spin through the latest news and notes items making the rounds on the internet today.

-New United signing Fred was left out of Brazil’s final warm up before the World Cup, but his injury is thought to not be serious. He is expected to formally complete his United move in the coming few days, wrapping up all the paper work that always accompanies a big money transfer like this.

Sky Sports News reports that: “the work permit application is being processed as expected and could be concluded before the end of the week.”

–Paul Pogba has probably been scrutinized and analyzed as much as any individual player ahead of the World Cup, which begins in earnest this weekend. The France midfielder is definitely a man on the spot this tournament, as a lot is expected of him. French manager Didier Deschamps has previously made it known that he needs Pogba to step up and be a leader.

Despite being jeered by his own fans in a recent friendly, Pogba has been given a big boost by Deschamps, as he’s been publicly declared a first teamer for the opener against Australia (The Independent)

United and Spain #1 David de Gea wants his nation’s new Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to publicly apologize for some comments that he made about the Golden Glove award winner’s alleged involvement in a 2016 sexual assault case.

“From the off I gave a press conference saying it was all a lie but people spoke about me,” De Gea told Spanish sports newspaper Diario AS. “In the end the truth comes to light and you could see that it was all a lie.” Read more at The Star online.

-Finally, United have confirmed that they have scheduled a friendly match at Bayern Munich on Sunday August 5.
