A group of Manchester United fans have had to alter their plans to stage a protest against club Executive Vice Chairman Ed Woodward and the Glazer family ownership. The protest was slated to take place on Monday night during the weekend’s Premier League headliner matchup, where United will host Tottenham Hotspur.
The protest plan calls for an airplane to fly over Old Trafford Monday night and display a banner that is expected to read: “ED OUT, LUHG” – with the initials standing for Love United Hate Glazer.

The Daily Express, citing The Sun as a reference, says that instead the banner will now “be flown over Turf Moor a week on Sunday, as there are issues with such a stunt being carried out before the game against Spurs and therefore they had to scrap their plan.”
Not sure how this “will fly” (pun intended) with Burnley FC and their supporters, but airplane protests are nothing new in the era of post Sir Alex Ferguson Manchester United.
In recent years, we’ve seen airplane protest banners calling for the reacquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo and the sacking of Fergie’s hand picked successor, David Moyes.

Woodward, not manager Jose Mourinho, is drawing the ire of some United fans due to the team’s slow start this season. That’s because it’s believed that Woodward did not give Mourinho the support he publicly clamored for in the summer transfer window.
For what it’s worth, the bookies have deemed Jose Mourinho the current favorite to be the first Premier League manager sacked this season. As for Woodward, the club has been wildly successful from a commercial and corporate standpoint under his watch, but he has a very poor reputation for football matters.
