Roberto Firmino Admits He’s Actively Recruiting Alisson

The Liverpool FC-AS Roma UEFA Champions League semifinal tie was the highest scoring in history, and one of the most memorable of all time. It featured Liverpool’s record setting attacking triad of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane squaring off against Roma goalkeeper Alisson.

Now with the World Cup drawing near, Firmino and Alisson will be teammates instead of adversaries, and Firmino has admitted that he’s trying to extend that alliance from not just country but to the club level too.

Alisson, if Roma are interested in letting him go, would be a very highly sought after player in the summer transfer market. Liverpool have been linked to the Brazil #1, as have Premier League rivals Chelsea.

“Sometimes I talk to him about it and have a joke with him, saying ‘you should come to Liverpool. His agent is sorting his future but it wouldn’t be a bad thing to have him here at Liverpool,” Firmino said while on international duty with one of the clubs considered to be a favorite at this year’s tournament.

Of course, any move for Alisson would likely have to be accompanied by shipping out current incumbent Loris Karius, naturally. Speaking of Brazilians and the summer transfer window, midfielder Fred, it was announced Tuesday, is on his way to Manchester United. Firmino spoke on that topic as well.

“He’s is in the next room to me, he is my next rival but I congratulated him and I hope he has a lot of success playing at Manchester United,” the Reds forward added.

“Now on the pitch it’s a derby, we won’t be able to avoid playing against each other but I wish him great success.”

Thursday’s Brazilian training session saw Fred suffer an ankle injury, but the severity and extent of which will not be known until after a scan is performed on Friday.
