Tomorrow sees the Premier League table toppers host the absolute bottom side when Watford travels to Liverpool. In other words, don’t expect this one to be interesting; at all. One should expect a lopsided blowout.
The big news today, ahead of this match is Liverpool FC announcing a contract extension for manager Jurgen Klopp. The German will remain in charge now at the Merseyside club until 2024.
“We decided to continue what worked so far, not too bad,” Klopp said in a video (you can see it below in the tweet) released by the club upon announcement of the extension.
“It will be good news for some, not so good for others. We love it here. It’s a wonderful club. We really feel at home. I thought it’s a good moment to continue at the club. It was not a difficult negotiation.”

It really is a perfect fit/match for club and manager, so kudos to both parties for making this happen and getting this done. In turning towards the match on the weekend, Klopp has no injury doubts or suspended players to worry about. He does of course remain without the services of the four long term injury absentees.
Dejan Lovren (hamstring) could be back as early as next week. Fellow central defender Joel Matip (knee) could be back in the mix by Boxing Day. Meanwhile Fabinho and Nathaniel Clyne, both recovering from knee injuries, are out until the new year.

This one should not be close at all; it will be what you would expect when the penthouse team hosts the basement side. And it’s not just a last place team, but a club that has fired it’s manager TWICE already, and long before Christmas.
