Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and left back Andy Robertson both met the media today to preview tomorrow night’s massive UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash at home against Manchester City. We have videos of both embedded here for you below via YouTube.
Klopp gave an information packed session, revealing that defender Joel Matip is out for the season, but also that injury suffered by midfielder Adam Lallana is not as serious as initially thought. He’ll be out a few weeks, but Emre Can is “very very close,” and could be involved tomorrow.
Ragnar Klavan, Ben Woodburn and Joe Gomez are all also out for this one.
All the absentees Liverpool have in central defense prompted Jurgen Klopp to joke “if there is a center half in the room, I am open to talks.”
“Joel is out for the rest of the season, no doubt about that. It’s very serious of course, not sure 100 percent why, he felt something but didn’t think it was serious,” said Klopp during the session today.
“It looks like it needs further assessment and maybe surgery but he should be back for preseason. That’s the good news. Emre will at least be very, very close for tomorrow. He has a session today with the rehab coach but it doesn’t look too good.”
