Aston Villa may have to pay Paul Lambert a staggering £10 million in compensation after sacking him last night claims the Daily Mirror. The same publication names Jurgen Klinsmann as a leading candidate to succeed Lambert.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche and former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood are also among the contenders.

So who else will compete with the former German World Cup Winner and current U.S. National team Coach for the gig?

The Telegraphs says that there are six candidates in the mix including Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, Derby’s Steve McLaren and former Manchester United manager David Moyes.

-(ESPN FC) Jurgen Klinsmann is an early bookmakers’ favourite for a move to Villa Park, according to a report from PA Sport.

In November 2013, Klinsmann was linked to a move to Tottenham, a club he played for on two different occasions during his career. Right around the same time, Klinsmann signed an extension to stay on with the U.S. national team until the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and the story was mostly rubbished.

As for Sherwood, he still has the highest winning percentage in Spurs history, albeit for a small sample size. Plus he’s very colorful, as both his antics on the pitch and his press conferences often make for “good copy.” He’s got personality, and his name seems to pop up every single time there’s a new job open in the Premiership.

The Moyes name is surprising and intriguing. Not only because he flamed out so badly at Old Trafford, but he just took a new gig managing Real Sociedad.

It’s probably up to Jurgen Klinsmann in the end. It’s his job to lose if he wants it.
