The return from international break this weekend commences an extremely busy month for Manchester United. The back half of September will encompass a seven match in 22 days period. This busy period was the main topic that midfielder Juan Mata wrote about on his blog today.

Mata threw down the gauntlet to himself and his teammates, saying it’s time to “prove that we have a squad full of good players” by excelling in the “football marathon” ahead.

“September is going to be very demanding for us with seven games in just 22 days,” Juan Mata wrote.

“We’ve had a very good start in the Premier League and the challenge now is not only to keep the same level, but to do the same in the rest of the competitions as well: Champions League, Carabao Cup… It’s a football marathon and we can prove that we have a squad full of good players who are willing to put their skills at the service of the team.”

United took all three points from each of their first three games, and they currently sit atop the Premier League table with a 10-0 goal differential on the season.

Additionally, Mata blogged about appearing at the Soccerex global convention in Manchester to discuss his charity project Common Goal. The project see the Spaniard donate one per cent of his salary to a collective charity fund this season.
