Javier Hernandez has been extremely outspoken this week as the 2017-18 Premier League season commences.
The Mexican striker, known by his nickname of Chicharito, signed with West Ham United for £16 million this summer, after two years with Bayer Leverkusen. He joined the Bundesliga side after a one year loan spell at Real Madrid, which followed four years at Manchester United.
During a media opportunity ahead of the Premier League curtain raiser, the extremely popular and very opinionated forward looked back upon his four years at Old Trafford with warm memories.
The emotions expressed here are in stark contrast to the epic rant Javier Hernandez gave a couple days ago in response to a national teammate’s move to Major League Soccer being question. The discussion led to Hernandez calling out the manner in which he feels Mexican players are perceived and portrayed worldwide.
Getting back on the bright and sunny side, Chicharito had nothing but good things to say about his time at the Theatre of Dreams.
“I can just say it’s luck. It was a great experience [there] … only happiness. I was living my dream and made that big step, which is not common,” Javier Hernandez said.
“There is nothing negative about going there. It’s going to be my first game with my new club, against my old club in my old house. It’s only positive things – it’s an important moment for me.”
Hernandez is now the highest-paid player in Hammers history and all eyes in the supporter base will be fixated upon him. Just like what he’s used to while on international duty with El tri.
“I feel the same as when I went to Manchester United, when I went to Real Madrid and Leverkusen, and now West Ham,” Hernandez continued.
“I am going to play football, which is something I was fighting for since I was a kid, and then we will see what happens. It’s easy to say I can score 20 goals, or that I have a lot of pressure, or not, or blah, blah, blah. Speaking is very easy but the most important thing is to prove myself on the pitch.”
