Despite his arrest early Friday morning for drink driving, Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris is still in line to start the match against Manchester United tonight. After news of the arrest broke, the club sent out a statement declaring how serious they take incidences of drunken driving, and Lloris issued a public apology.

However, according to various outlets, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is in line to select the Frenchman in goal tonight.

Via the Daily Star: “The 31-year-old trained with his team-mates ahead of the United match and is understood to have travelled with them to Manchester.”

The official statement from the London Police department read: “A man has been charged following a routine patrol stop in Gloucester Place, W1. Hugo Lloris, 31, of East Finchley, was charged with drink driving on Friday, 24 August. He has been bailed to return to Westminster magistrates’ court on Tuesday, 11 September.”

The Spurs statement said that any discipline for Lloris will be handled internally. His being in police custody cost him a training session, which now puts him in line, potentially, for a £300,000 fine.

If the club is to issue a suspension and/or strip him of the captaincy, then it probably won’t happen until after a ruling is issued at his court date.
