Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur is more than just the headliner fixture of the Premier League weekend. It has also been billed as matchup of United’s interim manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, versus the next potential permanent manager- Mauricio Pochettino.

Well, not so fast. First, prying Pochettino away from Spurs is not easy task, especially after his having recently signed an extension. Secondly, there is still the case to be made for Solskjaer to possibly stay on beyond the end of the season. Thirdly, a new name was put into the mix today- England manager Gareth Southgate.

According to various outlets, who all claim to have their inside sources, Southgate is under consideration by Old Trafford and regarded to be the fallback option if they can’t land Pochettino.

There are of course a lot of question marks about how Gareth Southgate would fit in at a club like United, and whether or not he would even be interested in leaving the national team right now. Of course, these are issues to debate in another time and space. We still have another half to play at Wembley Stadium, where United currently lead Tottenham 1-0 at halftime.

United got a goal from Marcus Rashford, beautifully set up by Paul Pogba.
