Everton defender Ross Barkley had a bizarre end to the summer transfer window, and it looks like he’ll have a very interesting winter transfer window too. Barkley and his reps disputed widespread reports that he went to West London to undergo a Chelsea FC medical.
The assertions of Ross Barkley also contradict the public comments of Everton Owner Farhad Moshiri, who maintained that Barkley opted out of joining Chelsea at the last minute, right after under going his medical tests at the Blues Cobham training ground.
After the window closed, Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte dismissed the Barkley transfer rumors, but now new reports the reigning league champions going back in for the Toffees man come January. Word is that Chelsea’s rival, Tottenham Hotspur are also keen, and currently have the edge in the race to acquire his signature.
The Mirror report that the two London clubs will square off over the 23-year-old once the winter window opens on January 1.
Ross Barkley, currently out with a hamstring injury, has made it clear that he no longer wants to continue on at Goodison Park. The market price for him in the summer was reportedly about £35 million.
