Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has seen his side endure an extremely rough start to the Premier League season. The Special One admitted in August that it’s “very bad” and that when Chelsea took just four points from their first four matches that it was a “very bad start.”

Things continued to go poorly after that dreadful start, as Chelsea has taken only 8 points from their first seven matches. On Friday, Mourinho described his current struggles as “the worst period of my career.”

“I define (this) as the worst period of my career, with the worst results in my career,” said Mourinho.

“I get it as a fantastic experience – an experience that I don’t want to repeat. I want to finish tomorrow and win some matches again.

“I think it comes too late, to come after 15 years is too late, but it’s something that is helping me to be better, a great negative experience.”

No one expected Mourinho and company to have such a bad beginning. They were absolutely everyone’s favorite pick to win the league in the preseason. Now sports books have replaced them with Manchester City as the current favorite to win the league. Manchester United and Arsenal have also been given greater odds of winning the league than Chelsea now. They will face Southampton this Saturday.

Mourinho doesn’t think it’s the hardest schedule that he’s ever had to endure, but it’s the least desirable results he’s ever experienced.

“I had a big challenge all the time. It’s the worst results. I’ve never lost so many matches. That’s a fact.”
