Eden Hazard and Chelsea head to the international break on an extremely high note, having routed Southampton 3-0 today. They are level on points with Manchester City and Liverpool atop the Premier League table, but sit sandwiched between the two teams, in second place, due to tiebreaker criteria.

Hazard, who scored again today in the victory, had previously said that he relishes Chelsea’s role as Premier League title dark horses (City and Liverpool are everybody’s favorites to win it all). Now he’s taking a different look at the title race, saying that it is just too early to handicap it.

It’s too early to be thinking about the title.” said the Belgian who became the first player in the league to be directly involved in ten goals this season (three assists, seven scoring strikes). “We know it is tough to win, but it is good to be up there.”

“We are enjoying playing well and scoring goals. The first half was not so easy. They missed big chances and then we have had a bit of luck for our first goal, but we controlled the match in the second half.”

Chelsea are now off until the 20th, when they’ll take on their old friend Jose Mourinho and Manchester United in league play. On a side note, if you’re wondering why Eden Hazard abandoned the knee slide goal celebration, watch the video below:
