Chelsea FC Officially Confirm Eden Hazard Departure to Real Madrid

The day is finally here- Eden Hazard has left Chelsea FC and joined Real Madrid. It’s a rumor/narrative that has come up the past several summer transfer windows, but hasn’t actually manifested until just today. It was widely reported last summer that Hazard was going to/very close to making the switch, but obviously the deal was not completed.

He had just one year left on his Chelsea contract, so his moving now is much better for Stamford Bridge, as they won’t lose him on a free. It’s been widely reported that the transfer fee on this deal is worth £88.5 million.

All the official announcements just went out about an hour ago. Here above you will see the Belgian’s official farewell message, coming on the heels of what he said after the Europa League final victory over Arsenal (in which he strongly hinted at an exit).

In his time at Chelsea he played 352 games, scored 110 goals, accrued 92 assists and won six trophies. Here below is the farewell salute.

For Chelsea, tough times are likely ahead as not only have they lost their best player, but their appeal to get their transfer ban lifted is still going through the appeal process.

For Real Madrid, well, they simply are not messing around this summer. Hazard becomes their third signing already, and the transfer window hasn’t even officially opened yet.
