While Thibaut Courtois remains the #1 at Chelsea FC, the net-minder behind him could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, and there are two replacement names that commonly pop up in transfer rumor stories The January transfer window closes in about a week, so let’s dive right in before the transfer window shuts.
NBC Sports goes on to say that “AC Milan backup backstop Diego Lopez is in the frame for Chelsea, according to that report (the Begovic story linked above), but a more intriguing name is Newcastle ‘keep Tim Krul. The Dutchman is on loan with Ajax.”
The story also mentions a transfer rumor claiming that Courtois could be leaving the Bridge come summer time.
As of now, Courtois is still the man, but if something were to happen to him, injury wise, the Chelsea plan B could be someone different from the status quo as we head down the stretch of the title race. The Blues are currently eight points clear of London rivals Arsenal at the top of the table.
If Courtois goes down, maybe the race tightens?
