Chelsea FC announced another bit of January transfer business today, as they hailed the arrival of defender Emerson Palmieri from AS Roma. The Brazilian, who has since switched his international allegiance to Italy, is signed on for four and half a years, for a fee that Sky Sports is reporting to be £17.6 million, with another potential £7 million in add-ons.
Palmieri passed his medical at the Cobham training ground on Tuesday.
Good luck in the Premier League, @emersonpalmieri…

The statement attributed to Palmieri reads: “I came here because it’s a great team with a great history. Today I am realizing one of my dreams to pull on the shirt of such a great club.”
“English football is something I have been watching since I was 15 years old. It is a really beautiful game over here but it is going to be even more beautiful to play it.”
Palmieri joins Ross Barkley as Chelsea FC January transfer window additions, with Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud potentially next.
The Giroud move is contingent on the agreed upon deal between Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang becoming finalized. One player who won’t be coming to Chelsea is Palmieri’s now former teammate Edin Dzeko, according to the same Sky Sports article, which claim the asking price for the player is simply too high for Stamford Bridge.
