Thierry Henry is the next name being mentioned as the Arsenal managerial search rolls on. The Frenchman was considered a dark horse candidate to replace Arsene Wenger, long before the club announced that the man who led the club for 22 years was going to step down.

Henry, who was openly discussed the potential of succeeding Wenger, on more than one occasion, is set to hold talks with the club next week, Sky Sports reports.

As it stands right now, Mikel Arteta, who has the endorsement of Wenger, is the leading candidate. Here’s a link to more on that situation. The Gunners have reportedly also reached out to another former player, Patrick Vieira, as well. The club hopes to have Wenger’s successor in place before the start of the World Cup on June 14th. It may still be awhile until the new manager is named, as Arsenal have said this will be an extensive process.

Henry is a current assistant manager for Belgium, who are currently led by Roberto Martinez. Like Arteta, he does not have any experience leading a club. In the past, he has said that he was flattered by the stories linking him to be the next boss at the Emirates.

Back in February, when he was asked about the idea of succeeding Wenger, Thierry Henry said that landing the job would be “a dream come true.”
