Ander Herrera Says He Wants to Stay at MUFC Long Term

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera, the club’s reigning player of the year, has made it very clear that he wishes to stay put this summer. Despite seeing his playing time seriously diminish this season, partially due to injury and partially due to being often passed over for selection, he’s likely not going anywhere.

It would appear that all those gossip and speculation stories about his supposed exit this upcoming transfer window won’t be coming true after all. Herrera, as well as his fellow Spaniard Juan Mata, have reportedly been told that they can decide their own futures with the club.

Herrera has made it clear that he wants that future to continue at Old Trafford.

“I have already played more than 150 games for this club and I want to keep adding games and trying to play as well as possible because one day when I retire from football, I will say I had the chance to play for the greatest club in England,” Ander Herrera told the club’s magazine United Review.

“So I want to enjoy every moment, not only the matches but also at the training ground. The first thing to be able to do that is to be fit and that’s why I am so happy to be back with the team.

“I haven’t had many injuries for the last two years but I’ve now been out for a few weeks and, as I say to my girlfriend, I am a very bad patient. I want to play, I want to be ready. I want to be available for the manager and for the team.”

The 28-year-old has only started eight games this season.
