UPDATE Statement from Head Coach Urban Meyer
“Carlos Hyde will be suspended for at least the first three games of the 2013 season for conduct not representative of this football program or this university. He will be required to fulfill additional obligations before he is allowed to play in a game.”
Turns out, Columbus nightclub video footage appears to clear Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde of allegedly hitting a woman, Yahoo! Sports is reporting.
Charges dropped. Carlos Hyde likely reinstated.
The video from Sugar Bar 2 shows that Carlos Hyde, who was suspended from the team indefinitely by Urban Meyer did not touch the alleged victim during the incident. Charges are not expected to be filed. There is a journalist who maintains Carlos Hyde is still guilty though. Mindy Drayer, a reporter for the NBC affiliate in Columbus, viewed the same video and said she saw Hyde hit the woman.
Hyde accounted for 1,021 total yards – 970 yards rushing – and 17 touchdowns.
Carlos Hyde was not in attendance at Monday morning’s team meetings.
Details are starting to trickle in on the Carlos Hyde situation. There’s more to come on this. It’s probably in his best interests to act like a model citizen just in case. Carlos Hyde is not one of the three Ohio State players who attended Big Ten football media days. Bradley Roby was, but obviously lost that privilege when he got arrested. Therefore Hyde was not here to comment on the situation.
