Marquette head coach Buzz Williams is a fiery head coach.ย There is no debating that.ย However, Williams took his emotion to a whole new level after the Golden Eagles‘ win at West Virginia Friday night when he did a little dance across the Mountaineers mid-court to John Denver‘s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” that nearly caused a riot among the WVU student section.
Williams was especially fired up since the Golden Eagles played without their starting backcourt of Darius Johnson-Odom, Junior Cadougan, and Vander Blue for the first half.ย All three were suspended for violating team rules but returned in the second half to help Marquette overcome an 11-point halftime deficit and complete the 61-60 victory and in the process, severely hurting the Moutnaineers’ chances of earning an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament.
Here is the video… Notice how angry the Mountaineers students get as they have to be restrained by security.ย Buzz did apologize for his little shimmy after the game saying, “My emotional response after the game was unprofessional and a poor representation of Marquette.ย I’m sorry to all involved.”ย Still, he will certainly be public enemy number one next time Marquette plays in Morgantown… Oh wait, that could be never since West Virginia is leaving for the Big 12 after this season.
